Metal Leafing Resources
These are some products I recommend for metal leafing. You can learn my full technique in my Metal Leaf Art course, and buy premade course kits here.

This is the gilding adhesive and pen I use in my metal leaf work. The specific application method I use is detailed in my Metal Leaf Art course.
Metal leaf comes in many different formats. I recommend Seppleaf (available directly or via Gilded Planet) or Speedball metal leaf. You can buy it in flakes or in sheets. Don’t forget to save your extra bits for touch ups!

Dyson Dusting Brush Attachment
The soft dusting brush attachment on the Dyson will prevent scratching of the metal leaf. I recommend one like this one. Whenever possible, make sure you reuse larger scraps of leaf before vacuuming - I save mine in a cup.
I use my Dyson around the studio for general cleanup, and particularly for cleaning up excess metal leaf flakes before resin. I got this one refurbished on Amazon.
Application brush
To apply leafing, I use old paintbrushes like this Blick Mega brush. You can learn more about my method in my Metal Leaf Art course.
Dental Scraper
A little odd, but it works! I use dental scrapers to make touch ups in my metal leafing.
I use graphite or other transfer paper when transferring complicated designs onto paintings. The white paper shows up easier against dark backgrounds, and you can remove any excess with a bit of alcohol.
Dremel
I sometimes use a Dremel to shape my metal leaf as well. Don’t forget your safety glasses, and mask if needed.
Apron
You’ll definitely want to protect your clothes from the stray flakes. If you do get them on your clothes, a lint roller can help remove stray leaf. Can you tell I like to wipe my paintbrushes on my apron?
Gloves
I like to use gloves while working with metal leaf, to keep the oils from my hands from interfering with my process. It’s important to save and reuse your gloves as many times as you can to reduce waste. Latex also works well if you are not allergic.
