The octopus series celebrates one of Kathryn’s favourite animals, the Giant Pacific Octopus. The textured resin background is made with sand and crushed mussel shells. collected from local beaches.

About this Piece

This is a mixed media painting made with resin, natural mussel shells and sand, and variegated metal leaf. The edges are painted black to match. The textured surface created by the sand and mussel shells resembles the mottled skin of the octopus. This piece has mixed metal leaf with many gold, copper and silver tones.

This one of a kind original measures 18" round on cradled birch wood, with 7/8" stretcher bars. It has been stamped on the back by the artist’s custom aspen leaf stamp.

This painting is unframed, but hanging hardware is attached and the edges are finished to match (see photos) so you can hang it as is, or add a frame that suits your decor.
