About this Piece

This wooden serving board features abstract octopus arms, burned into the wood using heat. The back of the board has two wooden feet, and two silver tone metal handles. The board comes with a stainless steel spreading knife with a mango wood handle burned in a matching design.

The wood has been sealed with a food safe natural finish. This board measures approximately 16 x 8 x 1.5” not including the metal handles.

Cleaning instructions: Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Condition the wood regularly after each washing to prevent wear and cracking by wiping with a food safe oil such as butcher block oil. Not recommended for immersion in water, dishwasher cleaning or storage outdoors.

Giant Pacific Octopus

The Giant Pacific Octopus is adapted to survive in cold, oxygen rich water. These intelligent creatures have amazing camouflage abilities, and the females care intensively for their eggs. The octopus feeds on fish, crabs, shrimp and other marine invertebrates.

Octopus are threatened by climate change and ocean warming, since their copper-based blood does not carry oxygen efficiently, and they are sensitive to changes in oxygenation in the water.
