Amanita Mushroom Cap Dish Set

Amanita Mushroom Cap Dish Set

$45.00

About this Piece

This is a set of three tiny serve dishes, some of Kathryn’s first pieces of handmade pottery, and a stainless steel spreader knife in a gold finish with a woodburned mango wood handle. Unlike the Amanita mushroom it’s modeled after, these pieces are completely food safe.

The dishes and knife will be packaged with a ribbon and tag featuring care instructions, and shipped in eco friendly packaging.

Kathryn works with mango and acacia wood because these woods are fast growing and sustainable hardwoods, maturing in only 15 years. Mango wood is a byproduct of mango fruit production, and is harvested when the trees are too old or tall to be suitable for growing fruit, making room for young fruiting trees to be replanted. This durable hardwood has a lot of character in the grain. These are one of a kind, handmade pieces made from natural wood, and Kathryn chooses the pieces with an interesting grain. Most pieces will have small flaws, knots or tiny cosmetic cracks if you look very closely, but they’re durable and functional. Check photos carefully and message us for any clarifications.

Care Instructions

Pottery pieces - Dishwasher safe, hand wash recommended. Pieces are made with nontoxic glazes approved for food use.

Wood knife - Hand wash, dry after use. Do not immerse in water. Condition the wood regularly by wiping with food safe mineral oil and a soft cloth. Small scratches in the wood can be sanded periodically, applying wood oil afterward.

About this Species

Fly Agaric Mushroom

Amanita muscaria grows in many deciduous and coniferous forests in the Pacific Northwest. Its distinctive red mushroom caps are speckled with white. Although beautiful, it is poisonous and hallucinogenic to some. Don’t worry, this serve set is only inspired by the Amanita’s beauty, and contains no mushroom components.
