About this box

These fir wood boxes are Kathryn’s first fully handmade boxes, which she made at her shop in BC from Canadian fir and resin. The resin and inner wood finish are food safe and made in Canada, and the wood has a beautiful striped grain. The wood is finished with food safe natural hardwax oils, and you can choose between two different stain colours.

The inset lid is finished with food safe resin. The edges are sized slightly larger than the box so it is easy to lift out. The lid has a fitted but not fully airtight fit. It has been stamped on the back with the artist's custom wood burning brand.

The boxes shown are examples, but no two are the same.

Note from Kathryn - I’m still a beginner woodworker and some parts of these boxes are “rustic” quality - there may be some cosmetic flaws in the finish, and the lids are not airtight, but they have that handmade look! I’ve enjoyed making something from scratch and having complete control over the design and materials. Thanks for supporting my learning process.

Box Sizes and Care

There are three sizes of fir wood boxes; small, medium and large. This is the Extra Large size - please see photos for comparisons and examples of what they can hold.

This Extra Large square box measures approximately 5.5” square, and 6” high on the outside dimensions, and fits a standard size bag of coffee beans.

Cleaning instructions: Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Box lids with a resin surface can be cleaned with glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. For boxes with a non-resin finish, use mild soap and water only.
