About This Technique

This is an abstract landscape painting of the moon with a frost halo on a cold night. The painting combines hand-painted details in acrylic and Kathryn’s original Aura technique of creating dimensional rings with magnetic fields and magnetic pigment. This style was originally inspired by the visual disturbances from her migraines. The ring around the moon shifts and moves with different light sources.

About This Piece

This is an original mini painting on wood, measuring 6” x 6”. The painting is made on cradled poplar wood with a 1.5” depth. The edges are natural wood, sanded and finished with natural hardwax oil to bring out the grain. It has been signed on the side and back, and stamped on the back by the artist’s custom aspen leaf stamp.

This piece incorporates gold metal leaf for the trees. The moon contains pale blue phosphorescent pigment, which glows faintly for a while after lights are turned off. This effect is invisible during the day and has a subtle glow at night. The painting is sealed with a clear coat of resin, which can be cleaned with glass cleaner and a soft cloth.

This painting is unframed, but hanging hardware will be attached for shipping and the edges are finished to match (see photos) so you can hang it unframed, or add a frame that suits your decor.

Painting will be shipped wrapped in kraft paper with a ribbon and care card, and packaged securely for transit.

This is a handmade piece of art, and all handmade pieces will have small cosmetic bubbles or defects in the resin, or irregularities in the wood. Check photos carefully and message us for any clarifications.

This item will ship via Canada Post from British Columbia, and may take several weeks to arrive. Prices are in US dollars. There is no duty on original artwork, but local taxes may apply based on your country’s regulations.
