About This Technique
This is an abstract landscape painting of the full moon shining through silver leaf trees. The painting combines hand-painted details in acrylic and Kathryn’s original Aura technique of creating dimensional rings with magnetic fields and magnetic pigment. This style was originally inspired by the visual disturbances from her migraines. The gold ring around the moon shifts and moves with different light sources.
About This Piece
This is an original mini painting on wood, measuring 6” x 6”. The painting is made on cradled poplar wood with a 1.5” cradle depth. The pine edges are natural wood, sanded and finished with natural hardwax oil to bring out the grain. It has been signed on the side and back, and stamped on the back by the artist’s custom aspen leaf stamp.
This piece features a phosphorescent moon which glows a pale blue for a while after the lights are turned off. This subtle effect is invisible during the day. The foreground of the painting is trees in mixed silver leaf. The painting is sealed with a clear coat of resin, which can be cleaned with glass cleaner and a soft cloth.
This painting is unframed, but hanging hardware will be attached for shipping and the edges are finished to match (see photos) so you can hang it unframed, or add a frame that suits your decor.
Painting will be shipped wrapped in kraft paper with a ribbon and care card, and packaged securely for transit.
This is a handmade piece of art, and all handmade pieces will have small cosmetic bubbles or defects in the resin, or irregularities in the wood. Check photos carefully and message us for any clarifications.
Choose your Edges
You can choose to leave the natural wood grain edges as shown in the listing photos, or ask Kathryn to paint the edges matte black as in the example. If you want the black edges, please reply to your order email immediately after purchase.
